KEEP YOUR WORKERS SAFE WITH ARC FLASH COMPLIANCE

What is Arc Flash Compliance?

The National Fire Protection Code NFPA 70E code requires your building or facility to implement several safety measures to keep your employees safe from the risk of dangerous arc flash explosions from electrical equipment.

WHAT IS AN ARC FLASH EVENT?

An arc flash event is a sudden release of energy from your electrical equipment that is produced as part of an arc fault, generally from improperly maintained equipment. The light and heat produce an explosion that may cause a building fire and injury or death.

IS YOUR BUILDING ARC FLASH COMPLIANT?

HALCO has helped buildings and facilities throughout California to implement arc flash compliance solutions, including arc flash studies, equipment labeling, PPE equipment plans, and more.

The 3 STEPS FOR ARC FLASH COMPLIANCE:

1 . ARC FLASH STUDY: An arc flash study is an assessment of the arc flash risk level of each piece of equipment in your system. Knowing the risk level of each piece of equipment will help anyone who works on your electrical system follow correct safety measures and wear the appropriate PPE.

2 . ARC FLASH LABELING: With the results of the arc flash study, equipment throughout the system can be labeled with stickers that shows the arc flash risk level and appropriate PPE required. Arc Flash labeling is required by NFPA 70E and the National Electrical Code (NEC 110.16).

3 . PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): Once the equipment is labeled in your system, workers should be equipped with the proper PPE as communicated on the arc flash labels for working on energized equipment.
